Redirect map checker

Find loops and conflicting URLs before a site move.

  • No sign-up
  • Calculated on your device

Paths starting with / resolve against this origin. For a domain move, use full URLs in both columns.

Copy two columns from your spreadsheet: old URL, then new URL. Separate columns with a tab, one mapping per line. Remove the header. Maximum 2,000 rows.

The checker processes pasted URLs in your browser. It does not fetch them or upload the map. Standard site analytics follow your cookie settings.

How the calculation works

Review exact URL relationships before publishing redirect rules. This tool does not fetch live URLs or inspect HTTP status codes.

Try an example

Map /old-service/ directly to /services/new-service/. Remove intermediate redirects and check the final destination after deployment.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the original website origin. Paste two spreadsheet columns: old URL, then new URL, separated by a tab. Remove the header row.
  2. Check the map and review loops, chains, duplicate rules and conflicting destinations. This compares exact URLs without fetching them.
  3. Download the review, confirm the intended destination for each source, then test the live HTTP redirects and final pages after deployment.

Common questions

What is a redirect map?

A redirect map pairs an original URL with the relevant replacement URL when a site moves or changes its structure. It is a plan for server rules; reviewing the mapping does not publish or execute any redirects.

Does this checker test live 301 or 308 responses?

No. This browser tool reviews exact relationships in the pasted map. It does not fetch URLs, inspect HTTP status codes, check destination content or understand wildcard rules. Test deployed server behavior separately.

What is the difference between a loop and a redirect chain?

A loop returns to a URL already visited, so the visitor cannot reach a final destination. A chain reaches its destination through one or more intermediate redirects. Map the source directly to the intended final page where appropriate.

Are pasted URLs uploaded?

The map is processed in your browser and is not uploaded or fetched by this checker. Standard site analytics follow your cookie settings. Download a review before leaving if you need a copy.
