Distinguish one-time production from continuing expenses.
The first-year budget combines the agreed build, any separately scoped content work and actual third-party charges. The following year may include domain renewal, hosting, subscriptions and approved maintenance. Do not multiply a one-time website price into a recurring fee.
Ask who owns each account and whether a quoted support period covers defect fixes, content changes, security updates or monitoring. An unused maintenance allowance and an actively managed publishing service are different purchases. Get the deliverables and renewal terms for the option you choose.
Use a change request with an observable deliverable.
Suppose the approved brief contains a basic contact form and a later request adds file uploads plus CRM routing. Record the new fields, attachment rules, delivery behavior and acceptance test before estimating the extra work.
The same method applies to new language versions or product sections. State what changes, what material is needed, who reviews it and how the deadline moves. This makes an additional cost understandable without relying on a vague complexity surcharge.
Decide what must work at launch.
Choose a first release that explains the offer, shows approved proof and supports the intended contact task. Move optional content and systems to a later phase only if the launch remains useful without them.
Before approving a quote, confirm the page list, supplied materials, design review rounds, integration responsibilities, launch checks and handover. Send those decisions with your current website or starting brief so the studio can price the actual project.

Ask the quote to list them separately, with account ownership, renewal dates and the payer. A website build fee does not by itself establish which external charges are included.
How should an extra language be priced after work starts?
List the pages to translate, enter and review, plus language-switching and testing tasks. Agree the added work, owners and schedule before proceeding.
Can our team update the website after support ends?
That depends on the agreed editing interface, access and training. At handover, have the future editor change and restore one real item, then check that documentation and accounts have been delivered.
